Air India got its third Boeing 787 Dreamliner on Tuesday from the new North Charleston facility of the US-based manufacturer.
Delta said the airline will operate a Boeing 777-200 LR aircraft with a three-class configuration on the route and will offer passengers wi-fi connectivity and free mobile messaging.
The plane was scheduled to arrive in India during the first half of this week, the officials noted. Senior officials of the national carrier reached the US earlier this month to receive the plane from aircraft manufacturer Boeing, the officials said.
The airline's board met in the national capital on Tuesday, and decided to go in for sale and leaseback of Boeing 787 Dreamliners, due for delivery next month.
Totally, Air India has 27 Boeing 787s on order and will be taking deliveries of 20 of them by end of March 2015.
